When facing disciplinary charges by the Virginia State Bar Association in 1999, William Cloud Hicklin chose to resign his license to practice law in Virginia rather than defend himself. At least a couple of Web sites have documented William Hicklin's continued character assassination attempts in which William Hicklin does not disclose to people that he has a personal animosity for the subject of his abuse. Nor does William Cloud Hicklin inform people that he conducts an online smear campaign in multiple discussion forums.

William Cloud Hicklin's lack of self-disclosure and his repeated efforts to discredit other people are matters of public record.
